Witcher 3 Remastered free upgrade is the 29 September 2026 policy for qualifying owners, not a universal giveaway on every store that ever sold Wild Hunt. CD PROJEKT RED names GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as free-upgrade platforms. Nintendo Switch owners claim a separate Switch 2 download. Who already qualifies on PC and current-gen consoles

CD PROJEKT RED's announcement and the Steam community post both say Remastered is a free upgrade for existing owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 29 September 2026. Steam still sells that library as app 292030 Complete Edition. You do not hunt a second Steam license named Remastered. You wait for the 29 September client change, which the store already flags by noting that PC system requirements change that day.

From announcement day, current owners of the base game receive Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost, and both expansions are included in Remastered. Xbox Wire is more specific on Xbox: Xbox One base-game owners receive the two expansions; digital copies appear in the library and disc owners claim them from the Store. That Xbox One sentence is an expansion grant, not a promise that Remastered runs on Xbox One.

Xbox Series X|S owners also get Play Anywhere across Series consoles, PC, and Xbox-supported handhelds. PlayStation 5 owners get the free upgrade on that generation. PS4-to-PS5 disc and digital edge cases beyond Xbox Wire's Xbox One note are not fully specified in the captured first-party copy.

Switch 1 claim path versus a new Switch 2 purchase

Nintendo's eShop states Switch owners can claim The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered free on Switch 2 as a separate download and Home-menu icon. Nintendo Life quotes that eShop notice. The US eShop page was age-gated in this research environment; the Brazil listing plus that quoted US notice are the captured proof. It is not described as a patch that rewrites the Switch 1 cartridge in place.

New Switch 2 buyers who never owned the Switch 1 version pre-order or purchase Remastered. CDPR says Remastered is available to pre-purchase on Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2. Those two paid rows sit beside four free rows in the checklist. Marking the Switch claim versus the new Switch 2 purchase is the difference between zero extra spend and a new SKU.

Remastered on Switch 2 still includes Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. It still does not include Songs of the Past. Frame-rate and quality modes for Switch 2 are unpublished. Do not infer them from the announcement trailer.

Battle.net buyers and why Steam is not a new page

Battle.net is a new PC storefront through the CD PROJEKT RED–Blizzard Entertainment partnership. There is no legacy Battle.net Wild Hunt license to upgrade, so a Battle.net copy is a paid/new purchase of Remastered. Songs of the Past sold on that platform unlocks a Geralt-inspired Diablo 4 skin; that cosmetic is not the Remastered upgrade itself.

Steam remains Complete Edition 292030. The Songs of the Past store entity is 5006530. Wishlisting the expansion does not grant Remastered, and owning Remastered on Steam does not grant Letten. The Nintendo eShop slug the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-remastered-switch-2 is the only captured storefront whose display name is already Remastered.

If your copy is on an older platform that CDPR did not name — last-generation PlayStation or Xbox without the Xbox Wire expansion grant, or a store missing from the seven-row list — do not assume a free path.
